Frank Houston is a highly versatile composer and multi-instrumentalist with experience spanning numerous musical genres, including jazz, pop, country, R&B, rock, gospel, and hip-hop. His career has been marked by collaborations with internationally acclaimed artists such as Thomas Rhett, Musiq Soulchild, PJ Morton, George Duke, and Kirk Whalum, showcasing his adaptability and skill across diverse musical landscapes.

Growing up in Atlanta, Georgia, Frank’s musical journey began with the saxophone in elementary school, quickly followed by a deep immersion in jazz during his middle school years. In high school, he expanded his instrumental repertoire to include the euphonium in the marching and symphonic bands, which eventually led him to professionally play the trombone after completing his college education.

While pursuing a business management degree at Clark Atlanta University, Frank experienced a brief hiatus from the saxophone before rejoining the CAU Jazz Orchestra. This period proved pivotal, solidifying his decision to pursue a career in music and leading to his involvement with the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia music fraternity. Notably, he was selected for two consecutive years to be part of the African-American Jazz Caucus’ HBCU All-star Big Band, performing at prestigious events such as the IAJE Conference in Toronto and the Notre Dame Collegiate Jazz Festival.

Since his college years, Frank has maintained an active career, touring and recording extensively with R&B/soul legend Musiq Soulchild and collaborating with C-pop stars like Khalil Fong and Xin Liu. His talent has also been showcased on numerous national television programs and even in film appearances. In 2016, he released his debut instrumental jazz album, “First Hand,” featuring original compositions and prominent Atlanta musicians. More recently, he contributed to Musiq Soulchild’s Grammy-nominated album, toured internationally, and continued to release his own music, underscoring his ongoing musical evolution and diverse contributions.
