​The Centre for Information Integrity in Africa (CIIA) is dedicated to promoting accurate, trusted, and secure information across the continent. In an era where digital media and social polarization fuel the rapid spread of disinformation, CIIA stands at the forefront of safeguarding democratic values and societal trust.

The Centre’s mission is crucial for promoting reliable information, combating misinformation, and supporting informed decision-making in both public and private sectors. By addressing issues such as health misinformation and climate change denial, CIIA aims to reinforce democratic processes and societal trust. ​

Under the leadership of Director Herman Wasserman, a Professor and Chair of the Department of Journalism at Stellenbosch University, CIIA benefits from his extensive experience in media and communication studies. The Centre collaborates with various partners, including academic institutions and civil society organizations, to ensure long-term sustainability and impact.
